In developing Ülemiste City, we are guided by the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainability in order to reduce the environmental impact of our activities and support the development of a holistic and future-oriented urban environment. To achieve this, we reduce our carbon footprint and implement measures that help mitigate the effects of climate change. To continuously improve energy efficiency, we adopt new technologies and solutions that help save resources and generate energy.

We also consider the development of green urban space to be important. We encourage the use of green areas for both work and leisure, while also investing in the creation of new greenery. At the same time, we apply the principles of continuous improvement across Ülemiste City to reduce air, water, noise, and unnecessary light pollution, and to mitigate the potential impact of our activities on both the environment and the local community. In addition, we support circular economy solutions and work to reduce waste generation.

Ülemiste City’s environmental objectives focus on increasing resource efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and shaping a more sustainable urban environment. We have set clear targets to reduce the energy consumption of office buildings per square metre and achieve a 7.5% reduction by 2026 compared to 2020. We also aim to ensure that 100% of the electricity used in office buildings comes from renewable sources.

In addition, we are focused on improving water efficiency and reducing waste. Our goal is to keep water consumption per employee at up to 5,000 litres per year by 2026 and reduce the amount of waste generated per person by 12%. At the same time, we aim to increase the share of separately collected waste across the campus, with a target of 56% by 2026.

Sustainable mobility is also an important priority. We aim to increase the share of trips made within the campus by means other than cars and reach at least 50% by 2025.

Nearly 18,000 talents work, study, and live in Ülemiste City, and more than 400 companies operate there. Mainor Ülemiste’s role is to shape an urban environment that supports the well-being, health, mobility, self-development, and sense of community of all these people.

Ülemiste City’s social objectives are focused on continuously improving the talent experience, community well-being, and development opportunities across the campus. We aim to achieve a talent experience Net Promoter Score (NPS) of at least 70% by 2026. To support this, we promote community well-being through a high-quality, safe, and accessible urban environment, offer training, conferences, and community events for campus talents, and create development opportunities for both talents and organisations through the Talent Portal. We also continuously improve campus services and the surrounding environment, while regularly measuring satisfaction to support the sustainable and people-centred development of Ülemiste City.

We are guided by responsible and transparent governance in all our activities and voluntarily prepare a VSME report. To support this, we systematically collect environmental, social, and governance data in order to better understand the impact of our activities and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we also consider it important that the activities of our partners are aligned with our values and requirements.

To support sustainable real estate development, we aim for our office buildings to achieve at least LEED Gold certification or an equivalent international standard. In cooperation with our tenants, we also apply the principles of Good Practice, which are based on people-centredness and sustainability and help shape a high-quality and responsible urban environment.
